Hmmm, Saturn Airways doesn't ring a bell for me. Do you remember what year that was? Maybe that was before my time.

Rex, since you were interested in airplanes, do you remember the Saturn Airways aircraft landing on Kwaj? I had forgotten them, but a photo of a Saturn DC-8 on the Kwaj Community Photo Album #2 webpage jogged my memory. My gosh, its been 39 years since I've seen that sight!

Wow! I remember watching "Airport" (the original) at the Rich and getting sick from the popcorn! In my younger days, popcorn always made me sick for some reason. I also remember watching "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," "101 Dalmations," and "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang." Why I remember these and no others--who knows? I still had (and maybe still have) one of those green Kwaj PVC ponchos with the plastic snaps and the clear PVC visor.

The only real thing I remember about the Carnival (1970-1972) were the pachinko machines. This was my first exposure to them and I loved those mechanical machines. I also remember they may have discontinued them (or possibly upgraded them to the motorized versions without the "flipper" to launch the balls) because they were selling them at some point. My father, of course, had no interest in buying one for me! I seem to remember a friend of mine or my father's having one or two of them and I longingly inspected them. Years later, when living in Tokyo for a time, I checked out the "modern" automatic version, but they were no fun.

I too remember arriving on the MAC C-141 in late (October?) 1970. It was our only flight on one, as when we took vacation and when we left permanently we took the Air Mic 727 (which, by the way, I remember having a filthy tail from the center jet exhaust). Anyway, I will always remember the rear-facing seats with no windows. I have forgotten about the cold, the food, and the restrooms. But I do distinctly remember some kind of air vents at the top of the fuselage facing the rear above the seats. They had high-speed air wooshing in as we flew, almost like they were directly vented to the outside of the aircraft (which of course would not make sense as the cabin was pressurized). But I do remember the air wooshing through them was very loud. Funny, the things you remember from your younger days! By the way, I loved your photos!

Thanks for the comments, Glenn. Sorry it took a few days to approve them for posting, but I have so much spam targeted to this website that I have to approve comments before they make it online. Yours are the first real comments I've had in many months.

One of the injured workers was Mr. Friend. He had 3 degree burns over his body and was wrapped up in linen. Mrs. Friend came into visit her husband with a huge aloe vera plant, unwrapped the linnen, smeared it all over him, and wrapped him up again.

The doctors were puzzled how Mr. Friend had baby soft skin!!

Yeah, that's right. You @#$%& spammers just keep right on sending me your link-filled comments and I'll be happy to keep bulk-deleting them like I've been doing. Not one shred of it is going to end up on the website.
