Longing for Clarity

I think a brief word is in order on a topic that I should’ve covered in my shell collecting post, but senility got the better of me and I completely neglected it. :oops: The Gulf Coast is the nearest major body of water to our current home, and we typically make a pilgrimage to the beach once every 2-3 years for vacation. One might wonder, do I continue to enjoy snorkeling right here in the Heart of Dixie, having spent so much time in that endeavor while on Kwaj? The answer is flatly, NO. There’s no point. Perhaps the single biggest factor that made Kwaj snorkeling so amazing was the water itself. (more…)

Seat without a View

Since most aspects of Kwaj life qualify as a unique experience, I guess there’s no startling revelation in the fact that coming and going from Kwaj had its own unusual twist. While some of my friends arrived and departed on one of the commercial flights that served the island, an experience that was probably no different than any other commercial flight (with the possible exception of the excessive flight time), my family made every trek to and from Kwaj courtesy of the MAC, or Military Airlift Command.
