Reunions

I hope everyone is having a good summer so far. I guess the Kwaj Kids reunion in Dallas is coming up next weekend, but I won’t be there. :( From what I understand, I don’t think any of the Class of ‘83 will be there either, or at least none of you I’ve had any recent contact with. At one point Ro said she was planning to go, and Jeanne lives in the area too, but I never heard for sure if either were actually going. Based on Wanda’s email in recent weeks, it didn’t sound like there was much of a response from ANY of the 80s classes. Not sure why. :? (more…)

The Adventure Begins

It was on this date 33 years ago around 10:30 AM when I first stepped off the C-141 and felt that hot, humid blast of salty ocean air. I don’t remember too many details about that event, and even the exact date and time were lost to me until my folks recently unearthed the original trip expense reports that detailed when it all happened. Associations

I was in the grocery store today and happened to glance at the Temptation Rack next to the check-out register. You know what I’m talking about…the rack of candy, gum, and other goodies that beckon to us as we wait to have our carefully chosen items rung up. It screams at us, “IMPULSE BUY!!!” and tugs on our subconscious, while it goes for a more head-on assault against any children that happen to be with you at the time. “Dad, can I have a ring pop? PLEASE?!?” :roll: My 15-year-old daughter has been known to beg for such items. And don’t get me started on the tabloid rack. :lol: That one I completely ignore (when they stopped reporting Bigfoot sightings, I lost interest :mrgreen: ). Anyway, as I was scanning the wares while waiting on the person in front of me to count out exact change for their purchase (use a debit card, for heaven’s sake :evil: ), I spied a familiar item that immediately brought Kwaj to mind: Tic Tacs.
