All Good Things

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007 by Rex Simmons

As with all things, good or bad, our Kwaj adventure had to eventually come to a close. Today marks the 30th anniversary of our departure on July 25, 1977. You’d think that, since this was the last thing we did on Kwaj, I’d remember this event the best of all things I remember about Kwaj. Instead, I remember this no better than our arrival 3 years earlier. (more…)

Shameless Plugs for Friends

I’ve been meaning to post a notice on here plugging the home business of a Kwaj classmate but I can never seem to remember…until now. Jeanne Baysinger Wallace runs Jeanz Beanz offering “Home Decor with a Texas Accent.” She also has a presence on eBay. Her website has some neat stuff on it, so check it out. I think she offers different products at different times, so you won’t find the same stuff month after month. It won’t cost you anything other than a little bandwidth to explore.

Unrelated to Kwaj, a life-long friend of mine (I’ve known him since I was 6) abandoned his career in the IT industry a few years ago and started a home-operated business making scented candles. He was always somewhat of a chemistry nut. I’ve tried his product and it’s every bit as good as popular store brands like Yankee Candle (my wife thinks his are better), but he can offer you personal service and lower costs than what you’ll typically find in stores. If you care for scented candles at all, I encourage you to give him a try. I think you’ll be pleased and I know he’ll appreciate the business. Visit Madison Candleworks to see his extensive list of candle scents.

And no, I’m not getting any kind of kickback or discount for this.

The Wrong Kind of Visitors

This blog has seen a lot of activity lately, but not the kind I was hoping for. Every day I receive numerous comments on various posts, and all of them are spam. Fortunately the rest of you never see any of them since they all get dumped automatically into a hidden moderation queue where they meet a quick and decisive end. If I still have any legitimate readers, how about chiming in now and then so I know you’re still out there? Right now you’re all being trumped by spammers.
