The Magic of the Moment
Sunday, August 26th, 2007 by Rex SimmonsI may be wrong about this, but I tend to think it’s common for people to sometimes want to revisit and/or relive certain events again, especially those that were somehow special over and above the usual routine of life. For me, my time on Kwaj is one of those times and places that I sometimes long to experience again, not because I need to escape today’s trials but simply because I hold so many good memories from those days, a time when things were simpler without the burdens that come with adulthood. That easier life, coupled with the uniqueness of the surroundings we found ourselves in, makes the whole experience one worth remembering and reflecting on from time to time as I’ve done here. One cannot revisit those memories, though, without running into the somewhat harsh reality that memories are all that remain, and reliving that experience is no more possible than time travel. (more…)
